Vascular Surgery Training Program

The Division of Vascular Surgery administers the training program in Vascular Surgery and vascular disease management. One resident is accepted each year into the two-year program, which includes one year of diagnosis of vascular disease and performance of endovascular procedures, and one year of open vascular surgical procedures. The vascular fellowship is conducted entirely within UCLA Medical Center. Residents in general surgery obtain training in vascular surgery on junior and senior resident rotations on the Vascular Surgery Service at the UCLA Medical Center. Chief residents receive their training outside of UCLA Medical Center (CHS), and rotate through the VA, Santa Monica, and Olive View hospitals. There is faculty overlap in vascular surgery both at the UCLA Medical Center and at all of the integrated and affiliated hospitals, ensuring that the faculty who teach general surgery residents are the same faculty who teach the residents in vascular surgery.

Eligibility Requirements:
Successful completion of the USMLE Steps 1 -3

Graduation from an accredited U.S. or Canadian Medical School or valid ECFMG certificate and eligibility letter from the Medical Board of California

Completion of 5 years of General Surgery
