Moore, Wesley S. MD

Dr. Moore graduated from the University of Southern California in 1955, and received his MD degree from the University of California in San Francisco in 1959. He did his residency in general surgery at the University of California, having completed the chief residency in 1964. After two years in the Army Medical Core, he returned to do a fellowship in vascular surgery, which he completed in 1967. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He received his Certificate for Special Qualification in Vascular Surgery in 1983. He was recertified in vascular surgery in 1992, and most recently, in 2003. Dr. Moore was Chief of the vascular surgery program at UCLA from 1980 until 1996, and is currently Professor and Chief Emeritus. Dr. Moore is a member of multiple surgical societies including the American Surgical, Society for University Surgeons, and the Society for Vascular Surgery, for which he served as Secretary from 1980-1984 and President from 1986-1987. He was a member of the Board of Governors of the American College of Surgeons, and a past Chairman of the Stroke Council of the American Heart Association. He was the founder of the Western Vascular Society, and served as Secretary-Treasurer from 1986-1990 and President from 1991-1992.

Dr. Moore has served as the editor of the standard textbook in vascular surgery, which is now in its seventh edition. He has also been the co-editor of the original textbook of “Endovascular Surgery,” which is about to go into its fourth edition. He has 287 publications in peer-reviewed journals and has contributed 197 chapters to standard textbooks.

Dr. Moore continues an active clinical research program and is the Principal Investigator of the CREST and PIVOTAL trials at UCLA, and serves as the co-PI for surgery on the national CREST trial Executive Committee.

Dr. Moore continues an active clinical practice at UCLA with primary interest in carotid artery disease and abdominal aortic aneurysm.
