Dr. Dan Castro confines his clinical practice to nasal/sinus/sleep disorders, oncology, and lasers. With over 15 years experience, Dr. Castro has developed new and innovative medical and surgical techniques to successfully treat, control, and eliminate chronic conditions such as nasal airway obstruction, congestion, headaches, recurrent infections, snoring, bad breath, altered sense of smell and taste, chronic cough, fatigue, chronic nasal dripping, and others.
All patients receive a comprehensive evaluation, including allergy, taste, and smell work-up, sleep studies, and others. The surgical techniques are minimally invasive, using lasers and/or power tools, therefore, no intranasal “packing” or “sponges” are needed. Imaging-guided, real time, endonasal sinus surgery is available for treatment of complex disorders or tumors. These surgical procedures are almost always performed on an outpatient basis in less than 30 minutes of operating time.
Dr. Castro runs a busy clinical practice seeing over 3,000 patients annually and he performs between 750-850 surgical procedures a year.
Dr. Castro is currently a Professor of Surgery in the Division of Head and Neck Surgery at UCLA. He is recipient of numerous and prestigious national and international awards. He has authored more than 250 publications, book chapters, and videotapes. He is actively involved in teaching courses and seminars on lasers, nasal/sinus and sleep disorders. The National Institute of Health, National Cancer Institute, and major industries are also developing his original concepts with laser technology and fund his research. Dr. Castro has chaired and co-chaired multiple conferences and committees for the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery as well as the American Academy of Lasers Surgery and Medicine. He is a dynamic and versatile speaker who is frequently invited to lecture and teach about his research and clinical experience nationally and internationally.
