Fellowships in Cardiothoracic Surgery
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery offers one to two-year clinical fellowships in adult cardiac surgery, pediatric cardiac surgery, and heart transplantation. The adult cardiac fellowship provides extensive experience in arterial revascularization, complex valve repairs, and the use of homografts as well as the Ross procedure. The pediatric cardiac surgery fellowship offers training in the Fontan procedure, arterial switch operations, Norwood operation, and stage management of pulmonary atresia with/without ventricular septal defects. The cardiac transplantation fellow experiences all aspects of heart transplantation, including patient selection, pre-operative and post-operative management, as well as training in harvest and implantation techniques. Applicants must have completed a general and cardiothoracic surgery residency and should apply one year in advance of the July 1st start date. A California Medical License is required.
