Stan Frencher, MD, MPH

Dr. Stanley Frencher is a second year RWJF Clinical Scholar at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is the first Clinical Scholar sponsored by the American College of Surgeons conducting research at UCLA/RAND, deferring the completion of his General Surgery residency training at Yale New Haven Hospital. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor's degree in Biology/Sociology and earned his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a Master's degree in Public Health at Columbia University as a Macy's scholar. Dr Frencher is interested in quality of surgical care, appropriateness of care and health care disparities. Transitioning to a surgical career in urology, his research focus includes understanding patterns of screening and awareness of prostate cancer among minorities within healthcare systems and in community settings. He is also conducting to research into the risk factors associated with perioperative infections and developing preventative guidelines with ACS NSQIP. In addition, he endeavors to develop metrics and policies in order to decrease risk factors, increase patient’s access to treatments and improve quality of care.
