Scope of Work

	Overview
	The U.S. population is expanding and aging. A major focus for surgeons now and in the future is the care for the older patient. The Center is concentrating a major portion of its efforts to such issues as improving the quality and safety of perioperative care in older persons, ethical-related issues, palliative care, and end of life topics. This overall topic has tremendous policy-relevance in our health care system – and for a variety of stakeholders, including the providers, the patients, as well as the payers.
